Breakfast.

Sometimes coffee just doesn't do the morning justice.
A light cocktail might be in order.
The breakfast martini.

Hendricks
St Germain
Lemon bitters

Yes that is not a martini glass, I despise martini glasses. They are the most ill-concieved vessels, messy, terrible center of gravity.
The only thing worse than serving martinis in a martini glass is serving shrimp in a martini glass.
Hmmm.....that should be a new rule.

Salted Yuzu Margarita

I 've had several Margaritas over the years but desperate times call for desperate measures, hanging with my friend Bela the other day and dying for a cocktail, alas no limes to be had. As a former bartender, she was quite resourceful in going through the shelves to find substitutes. We ended up using salted yuzu base and 1 drop of pure lime oil to make the most amazing sweet-sour margarita. Truly delicious.

Tequila.
Yuzu Base.
Lime Oil.
Simple Syrup.
Shake over Ice.

Shot glasses are rimmed with lemon salt.

Tasty tasty....!

Micro drinks

I have to arrange a small hors de oeuvre and cocktail party for a Manhattan bachelorette, she wants little "chick drinks", her quote not mine. To those of you in other countries, in America, chick drinks are anything that isnt clear and generally served in the 5 block axis of evil known as the meatpacking district. It's ironic how the butchers have moved but the name still works...haha !
A wide variety of mini cocktails paired to match the food. We are going to use shot glasses. The challenge is pretty simple, the drinks are easy, the issue is managing 75 shot glasses for 15 women in addition to precision plated bites. Here is a Kir Royale with cassis, blackcurrants, lemon balm and Cramant.
It will be paired with smoked duck breast on rye with blackberry mostarda.

Respect your elders

The  most exciting visibly absent flavors on the American cocktail scene are Elderflowers and Elderberries, perhaps my bias comes from growing up in England for some time. In recent years, herb infused classic cocktails such as mojitos and contemporary variations using other floral herbs like thyme and verbena have made a resurgence on the cocktail scene. To close out a stressful day, here is a muddled lemon balm martini with elderflower and Hanger One vodka.
The elderberry syrup will be used in a similar drink with the "olive" garnishes.
