My first posting under the category "not about food" .
As I was staring at the sky last night watering my tomato seedlings, I remembered the US Navy's plans to shoot down one of our own satellites at some point in the next 72 hrs because this half billion dollar piece of equipment allegedly simply stopped working.
Hmmm.
Really ?
While I am no "grassy knoll" theorist, am I the only person out there who thinks this is simply a plausible public excuse to practice shooting down a satellite by pretending it is an imminent threat to public safety. As I recall the huge space shuttle that was sadly lost during re-entry came down in relatively small pieces so why is a satellite that is so much smaller any different. After all conventional wisdom is that the military never actually announces what it's up to unless they are up to something else. Conveniently it's also a full lunar eclipse tonight so no moonlight witnesses. Bet you Vladimir Putin is making all kinds of phone calls to his generals.
